DOMINION MEAT EXPORTS

BRITISH OFFICIAL URGES INCREASE (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, April 8. The Dominion could produce a good deal more meat for export, said Mr R. Herbert, Under-Secretary to the British Ministry of Food, tonight. Mr Herbert, with other officials of the Ministry, Dr. L. B. A. Grace and Mr J. R. Dane, is in the Dominion on a goodwill mission. “We are naturally interested in your Dominion,” Mr Herbert said. “For .one thing, we buy meat to the value of £42,000,000 a year, and we are anxious to see something of the production potentialities of the country. We alsd feel we can do a good deal by a discussion of problems with individual producers and others.

“The Dominion is the biggest supplier of meat to Britain, but we think you could send us a lot more. Of course, we want your fat lamb, but it would be of the greatest assistance to us if you could supply more beef.” There was a market in Britain for all that New Zealand could supply, he said.
