CAUSE OF FLYING SAUCER REPORT
(Rec. 11 p.m.) NEW YORK. March 11. An Air Defence Command spokesman said today that a high-flying weather balloon and two investigating jet planes probably caused ground observers to report what looked like flying saucers over the Air Defence Command gunnery course at Yuma, Arizona. The spokesman said that two pilots, soon after hearing the flying saucer reports, sighted the balloon at an altitude of about 35,000 feet.
