JAPAN’S ARMS INDUSTRY
U.S. SEEKS HIGHER OUTPUT (Rec. 11 p.m.) TOKYO, March 11. The United States Ambassador in Tokyo (Mr Robert D. Murphy) has asked for a meeting with the Japanese Minister of Trade and Industry (Mr Sankuro Ogasawara) to discuss increasing Japan’s military supplies to the United Nations forces in the Far East. The meeting may lead to the formation of a joint American-Japanese committee to organise production and supply. Usually well-informed sources said the United States would protest at Japan’s luke-warm attitude of building up her arms industry.
