South Canterbury Power Charges.— When in the past the South Canterbury Electric Power Board has increased its charges, the consumers have had to pay the whole of the next meter-reading at the new charge. The scale of charges which will come into operation on April 1, however, will apply only to electricity actually used from that date. This was decided at a meeting of the board last evening on the ground that the increase—nearly 50 per cent. —was so much that the normal practice would be unfair. —(F.0.0.R.)
