OFFICIAL FORECASTS "The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON. March 11. The weather forecast for Canterbury, issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 27 hours following the time of issue, is:— Situation: pressures are high over northern New Zealand, and a cold front is crossing the South Island. Forecast: southerlies, freshening during the day; weather cloudy and cool, with some rain or showers. Outlook: scattered showers, but improving. The following is the forecast for the West Coast of the South Island:— Rain, but improving. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The day in Christchurch yesterday was fine, with a very light north-easterly wind in the morning and a moderate southwesterly in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 88.2 degrees. At midnight the sky -was almost clear, and a light westerly wind was blowing. The temperature was 55 degrees. The barometer, at 29.788 inches (1008.7 millibars), was falling unsteadily.
