Resignation Of Rt. Rev. S. G. Caulton REPORT FROM SOLOMON ISLANDS (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 10. Reports received in Honiara, in Guadalcanal, say tnat the Bishop of Melanesia (the Rt. Rev. S. G. Caulton)
has resigned, according to the Honiara correspondent of the “New Zealand Herald.” Until Bishop Caulton arrives in the Solomon Islands from Auckland in the mission vessel Southern Cross at Easter, the reasons for his action will not be known. Bishop Caulton was consecrated Bishop of Melanesia in St. Mary’s Cathedral. Auckland, in February, 1948. When he accepted the offer of the bishopric, made to him by the Bishops of the Church of the Province of New Zealand, he was Dean of Auckland and vicar of St. Mary’s Cathedral Parish.
