MODEL QUEST
CHRISTCHURCH SHOP’S COMPETITION
Between 600 and 700 persons, mainly tfomen. but with a fair sprinkling of men. packed the Caledonian Hall last evening for the first evening of a model quest sponsored by a Christchurch shop. Fifty girls, some of whom are professional models, are competing for a trip to Melbourne as the first prize in the quest. The proceeds of the quest are to be devoted to Derry’s Military Band. The judging of the models is by popular vote. Each member of the audience was given a voting paper bearing the number of each contestant. They were asked to select five models, and after the second showing this evening, the voting will decide the five finalists. These will appear before judges on the stage of one of the Christchurch theatres on the evenings of March 14, 16 and 17 and the winner will leave for Melbourne by the Skymaster on March 20 for one week’s holiday.
