OBITUARY
MR G. B. COOPER The death occurred recently of Mr G B. Cooper, a well-known farmer of the Cheviot district. In his younger days, Mr Coopet worked on the St. James and Happy Valley stations, and also in Hawke’s Bay. L&ter he took up farming on his own account in the Ashburton district, and sold this property when he enlisted for service in the 1914-18 war. He served with distinction overseas, and was awarded the Military Medal. On his return, Mr Codper again turned to farming, finally settling at “Hayton,” Tormore. Mr Cooper was a Justice of the Peace and took a keen interest in the welfare of the district. He was a foundation member of the Tormore School Committee and served as chairman for 10 years. He was chairman of the local rehabilitation committee for a number of years, and a vestryman of St John’s Church. He was also a keen supporter of the Returned Services’ Association and a member of the Agricultural and Pastoral Assocaition. Collie Club, and football clubs.
Mr Cooper is survived by his Widow. Mrs V. M. Cooper, two sons, Messrs W. B. Cooper and H. M. Cooper, and one daughter. Miss H. M. Cooper.
