SCOUTS’ AND CUBS’ RALLY
Twelve troops, from as far distant nd Cheviot and Ashburton, attended the annual boy scouts’ county rally at the Pleasant Point Domain on Saturday. The welcome to the county commissioner (Sir Joseph Ward) was given by the New Brighton scouts, who performed the ’’Dominion rally" haka, and by the cube, with a "grand howl." Scouts and cubs competed in a wide variety of team events. The winning scout troop. Brighton, won the distinction of being the commissioner’s troop for the year. About 200 scouts and cubs attended the rally. Results of the events were:— Cub Section Flag relay: New Brighton 1. Fendalton II 2. Bryndwr I 3. Bob ball: Addington 1. Rapaki 2. South Brighton 3. Chariot race: Belfast and St. Mary’s (equal) 1. Train relay: Fendalton II 1. Fendalton 111 2. New Brighton 3. National Anthem: Merivale 1. Fendalton 111 and Woolston (equal) 2. March past: Papanui and Woolston (equal) 1. Total points: Fendalton II 9. Fendalton 111 7, Woolston sj. Scout Section Inspection: St. Phillip’s 1. North Beach 1.
