RELATIONS WITH JAPAN
PROPOSED LEGATION IN NEW ZEALAND (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 20. The Japanese Government intends to establish a Legation in New Zealand soon, but the New Zealand Government has no information ye* about the diplomats who will come to the Dominion. The Minister of External Affairs (Mr T. C. Webb) said today that since the coming into force of th* 5 Japanese peace treaty New Zealand had had a Legation in Tokyo under Mr R. L. G. Challis as Charge d’Affaires. . It was natural that Japan should wish to have reciprocal representation, said the Minister. He understood that the Japanese Legation would be headed in the first instance by • Charge d’Affaires.
