COST OF LIVING
Sir,—lt is heartening to note that Mr Nash has raised the cudgels on behalf of the housewife. His indictment would be of more value if he would get behind the Canterbury Housewives’ Union’s petition to Parliament and insist that its evidence be heard. After all, we face the problem of balancing the budget every week, many of us on the basic wage, which many women will declare is becoming a mere existence. If the Government wants proof of this, let it hear our evidence.—Yours, etc., MAY E. FUREY. February 16, 1953.
