POLIOMYELITIS CASES
TWO NOTIFICATIONS LAST WEEK Two cases of poliomyelitis were notified in the Christchurch-Grey-mouth health districts during the week ended last Saturday. Other notifiable diseases included typhoiff; two; tuberculosis, six; food poisoning, one; salmonellosis, one: lethargic encephalitis, one. One death from tuberculosis, and one death from lethargic encephalitis were reported. All diseases were reported from the Christchurch district. The Press Association says that four cases of poliomyelitis were reported to the Department of Health in Dunedin last week. During the previous week only one case was reported, after larger numbers in the weeks before that. Three cas es were reported in the Wellington Health district last week. The same number was reported the previous week.
