POSSIBLE VISIT TO N.Z.
REPORTED PLANS OF MR BUTLER (Rec. 10 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Feb. 16. The London correspondent of the “Melbourne Herald’’ said today that it was quite on the cards that the Chancellor of the Exchequer (Mr R. A. Butler) would visit New Zealand and Australia in August. The correspondent said Mr Butler, after visiting New Zealand and Australia, would return via Washington, where he would attend an international Monetary Fund meeting in September. He added: “It is all part of the growing, if belated, awakening in the British Cabinet to the need for British Ministers to visit Commonwealth countries. Th er Chancellor would not go on a specific mission, but simply for general talks with Ministers on financial and economic affairs and without any agenda.’’
