NASSELLA TUSSOCK

Sir, —Nassella tussock is being brought to the public eye again. Let us hope that Mr Holyoake does not take too literally all that Mr Earl and his board have told him and relies more on the reports of his own officers. It is time the public were told that the board has expended vast sums of their money uselessly, and especially on non-grubbing inspectors, caravans, etc., and extremely dubious afforestation schemes. The public should be told also that the Nassella Board has not been democratically elected, that large numbers of cattle are being carried on the so-called nassella menace, which is not really a menace at all, such as, say, gorse or rabbits; and the board has no nope whatsoever of clearing the country of nassella, so why not make use of it?— Yours, etc., T OLD FARMER.
