NJZ. Stowaway.— George Robert McKenzie, aged 21, of Auckland, who claims to have served in the French Foreign Legion in Indo-China and French Morocco, arrived in Glasgow recently after stowing away in the tunnel of a ship’s propeller shaft for six days. No proceedings were taken against him. McKenzie, who went to sea when he was 13, was stranded at Algiers, where the French immigration authorities gave him a form which he signed. He found that he had enlisted for five years in the Foreign Legion. He had five French medals, two for gallantry.—London, January 20.
