CRASH-LANDING AT TEMPELHOF

BERLIN, January 19. The pilot and co-pilot of a British freight-carrying aeroplane succeeded in crash-landing near the Tempelhof Airport today without killing or injuring anybody. The aircraft’s approach equipment was out of order and visibility was poor. The pilot had no alternative but to fly round until his petrol was exhausted and then crash-landed. The aeroplane missed the crowded working-class suburbs around Tempelhof, hit a telegraph pole, and finished a total wreck across a suburban railway line half a mile further on. Both occupants jumped out uninjured. Fog in Britain caused the cancellation of air flights, delayed road and rail traffic and also held up shipping.
