The weather forecast for Canterbury, Issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 27 hours following the time of issue, la:— Situation: an anti-cyclone, centred east of the Chatham Islands, covers New Zealand, and there is a low-pres-sure trough over the western Tasman Sea. Forecast: moderate northerly winds; weather fine and warm. Outlook for Thursday: fair. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— • • Moderate westerly to northerly winds; some showers in the far south; weather otherwise fair; temperatures mild to warm. Outlok for Thursday: cloudy weather, with some showers: CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was fine and sunny, with a light east-north-east wind. The maximum temperature was 81.9 degrees. At midnight there was a fog in Christchurch, and a light south-west _ wind was blowing. The temperature ■Was- 60 degrees, and the barometer, at 30.101 inches (1019.3 millibars), was rising steadily. Rainfall for 24 hours ended 1 a.m.: nil.
