GLADYS MONCRIEFF’S CONCERT
Sir, —I heartily endorse “Music Student’s” letter in today’s issue of “The Press” regarding your omission to mention the two artists, Miss Mabel Nelson and Geza Bachmann, at Miss Gladys Moncrieff’s concert on Saturday night. The hundreds of people who attended the concert were most enthusiastic in their appreciation of both these distinguished artists. Miss Mabel Nelson’s playing of both solos and accompaniments was outstanding; her exquisite touch and technique moved the very -soul of the audience and her vivacious and charming personality played a big part in the success of the concert. Geza Bachmann’s mastery of his art was something worthy of the greatest praise. He is an artist with outstanding talent.—Yours, etc., R. .TOM WILLAN. January 20. 1953.
Sir, —May I ask why the frocking at Miss Glady’s Moncrieff’s concert was not mentioned in the “News for Women” page of “The Press”? Miss Gladys Moncrieff’s gowns, in both the. first and second parts of the programme, were exquisite, both in design and texture. Miss Mabel Nelson’s graceful frocks were artistic and pleasing, showing to advantage her beautiful arms and hands. So often frocking at local functions is reported in your “News for Women” column. Surely the frocking of these two great artists is worthy of a place.—Yours, etc., ONLOOKER. January 20, 1953.
