INTERSECTIONS

Sir,—Your correspondent, John C. Wilson, in that one word "intersection,” will discover on reflection, as will many others, that he has opened up a tremendous subject, for it may be seen to embody most of our traffic difficulties. You gave us a fair innings with the left and right-hand rule. May we pass over to overtaking at an intersection. This was a matter discussed at Invercargill recently, where the Auckland representative dealt harshly with his Hawke’s Bay colleague, although on the face of things, did not prove his own case. He wound up by referring to “horse cart days.” I would have thrown a spanner into the works by suggesting overtaking on the intersection. I think I could have put up a better case but would not advise it for all that.—Yours, etc., G. WEBSTER. November 12, 1952.
