CYCLIST’S DEATH
JURY DISAGREES AT TRIAL OF MOTORIST (New Zealand Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH. Nov. 11. After considering the matter for five hours 40 minutes, including the midday meal hour, a jurv disagreed in the Supreme Court at New Plymouth today in the trial of Frank Schischka, aged 34. head yardman in a Manunui timber mill, who was charged with negligent driving causing death. A new trial will be held on Monday. No evidence was called for the defence.
Schischka was driving to Manunui on Sunday, June 8, when his motor-car touched a cycle going the same way on the highway at Motonui. The cyclist. Rodnev Gerald Baker, aged 15 years, of Waitara, received head injuries from which he died that afternoon in the New Plymouth Hospital.
