LABOUR PARTY LEADERSHIP
MR BEVAN’S BID MAY BE UNSUCCESSFUL LONDON, November 10. Labour members of Parliament were certain today that Mr Aneurin Bevan, the Left-wing rebel, has been heavily defeated in his bid for the deputyleadership of the party. The votes in the postal ballot between Mr Bevan and Mr Herbert Morrison will not be counted till tomorrow, but checking among themselves Labour M.P.’s estimated that Mr Morrison had won by more than two to one.
