The Adjutant-General (Brigadier J. R. Page) spent yesterday in Christchurch. In the morning he visited Burnham Military Camp, and he spent the afternoon at Southern Military District headquarters. He left for Wellington last evening. Mr Phillipe Baume, the new First Secretary of the French Legation in Wellington, will arrive in New Zealand towards the end of this month. He will succeed Baron Andre de Fonscolombe, who has been transferred to Jakarta.—(P.A.)
Mr lan Gray, 8.A., a son of the Moderator-Designate of the Presbyterian Church (the Rev. J. L. Gray, of Napier), was appointed head master of the Church’s new high school in the New Hebrides by the General Assembly in New Plymouth.—(P.A.) Mr W. J. Wilson, stationmaster at Rangiora, left yesterday to take up a similar position at Rakaia. Mr J. Stewart is acting as stationmaster at Rangiora.
