MR BROADFOOT’S COMMENT
POSITION “NOT TOO GOOD”

The Postmaster-General (Mr W. J. Broadfoot) said tonight that he had n 0 knowledge of a proposal to increase Post Office rates, but that the position was “not too good.” His department appeared likely to lose £900,000, because the new wage rates would involve an extra cost of about £700,000, Mr Broadfoot said. “I am’ thinking pretty x hard, and if a method of improving the financial position becomes apparent, I will move pretty fast,’” he said.
