Permit for Woodyard Refused.— An application by Mr C. M. Johnson for permission to establish a wood and coal business at the corner of Mortlake and Chelsea streets, Islington, has been declined by the Paparua County Council. This action was recommended by the council’s housing committee, as the area is a residential one. A request by Mr T. F. Imeson that the sections adjoining his shop at 62 Springs road should be zoned as a shopping area has also been declined, as the council considered it contrary to towm-planning policy to allow shopping areas on a main road. SKATERS AT THE SHOW The Devilleros! What a name! What an act! Yes, sir, when you carry such a name you must have something to justify it, and when you see these extraordinary artists at the CHRISTCHURCH SHOW in their amazing act on roller skates, on a ten-by-ten-foot rink, you’ll gasp in wonderment. Figure it out for yourself. These skaters defy death in their colossal high-speed swivel act in which they attain the almost unbelievable velocity of 400-revs a minute, dividing the margin between life and death by the almost immeasurable. You’ll never believe what skaters can do until you see the DEVILLEROS ... at the CHRISTCHURCH SHOW.
