Ecien) today expressed Britain’s intention to maintain close economic ties with the rest of Europe when he opened the council meeting of the Or&o n operaUon f ° r European p °m le ~F 2 r elfin and Finance Ministers from 18 European countries, with American and Canadian representatives, are mjmme for two days to discuss the broad lines of European economic policy for 1953. aimed primarily at bridging the dollar gap. Edom presiding at the council meeting for the first time, referred to the importance of keeping the links befwcon the O.E.E.C. and bodies such as the Counc!! of Europe, the Schuman Plan Authority, and the International Monetary Fund.
