TREES AT LANCASTER PARK
REMOVAL INTERFERES WITH GAMES The removal of the poplar trees at the south fence at Lancaster Park had interfered with games being played on the ground last Saturday, said Mr W. E. Mappiebeck at a meeting of the management committee of the Canterbury Cricket Association last evening. The trees were being pulled down during the games. Mr Mappiebeck said. The trees and the fence which was also being pufied down had taken up part of the field. At one end a bowler started his run a yard from the boundary. Mr F. G. Hobbs said one bowler actually disappeared among the trees when bowling.
Mr W. J. V. Hamilton, a member of the Victory Park Board, said the work had to be done on Saturdays. It would end next Saturday. He would ask for the work to be done within strict limits.
