DRAINAGE BOARD’S NEW AREAS
REPRESENTATION INVITED The Christchurch Drainage Board wishes to give those areas which have been recently incorporated in the board’s district, but which will not have official representation on the board till the next elections in 1954. a voice in its deliberations. It decided last evening to invite the Heathcote, Waimairi, Halswell, and Papanui County Councils jointly to appoint a representative to sit with the board. The representative will not have a vote.
Recommending that this action should be taken. Mr R. C. Neville said that a certain amount of ill-feeling had been caused by the fact that there was no provision in the new act for a new representative on the board from the area. Such an appointment would stifle criticism and would help to Create a better feeling, he said.
