CATALINA LOST OFF SUVA

(Rec. 7 p.m.) SUVA, October 8. A Royal New Zealand Air Force Catalina made a forced landing in the sea 17 miles from Suva today while on defence manoeuvres with the British submarine Thorough. Within a few minutes the crew was picked up by a fast crash launch. A few suffered minor abrasions, but no serious injuries. The plane was a total loss.
