COMBINED DANCE
Last evening the Dominican Colleges Ex-Pupils’ Association and the Can terbury-Westland branch of St. Kevin’s College Old Boys’ Association held an enjoyable dance in the National Club rooms. This is the second function to be arranged by the combined associations to enable former pupils to meet and renew friendships. About 120 persons were welcomed by the presidents (Mrs G. W. Brown and Mr L. Aspell). The specially invited guests included representatives of the following kindred associations: St. Mary’s College. Villa Maria, Sacred Heart Convent, St. Bede’s College, Waitaki Boys’ High School, Xavier Col•ege, Christian Brothers High School, and St. Patrick’s College. Mr A. Kennett and members of the committee were responsible for arranging the dance. According to fashion designers clothes for next autumn will be from two inches to four inches longer for day wear, averaging about 12 inches from the floor, says a Sydney newspaper. The tendency was noted at the autumn showings in London, confirmed by the Paris shows. Photographs of autumn styles arriving from both centres prove that the rumour was correct.
