INSPECTION OF RESERVISTS

VISIT BY CHIEF OF NAVAL STAFF

Naval reservists and sea cadets in Christchurch will be inspected by the Chief of Naval Staff (Commodore F. A. Ballance, R.N.) on Saturday morning. On parade in the King Edward Barracks will be the Canterbury division of the Royal NeW Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve, the Navy League Sea Cadets, and school sea cadet units from Christchurch Boys’ High School, St. Andrew’s College, and the Christchurch Technical College.

Commodore Ballance will arrive in Christchurch by air from Dunedin this afternoon. He Will be accompanied by the Third Naval Member of the Naval Board (Captain (S.) M. H. Knott, R.N.), Commander J. D. Keay, R.N.Z.N., Director of Reserves and Mobilisation, and the flag lieutenant to the Naval Board (LieutenantCommander D. C. Felly, R.N.). Tomorrow morning Commodore Ballance will call on the headmasters of the Christchurch Boys’ High School, Christ’s College, St. Andrew’s College, and the Christchurch Technical College, Where sea cadet units have been formed. In the afternoon he will visit H.M.N.2.5. Tasman, the shore establishment at Lyttelton, and the ammunition depot at Cass Bay. He will meet officers of the Canterbury division of the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve in the evening, and will return to Wellington by air on Saturday afternoon.
