SHAH SUPPORTS DR. MUSSADIQ
ADDRESS TO PERSIAN SENATE ■ TEHERAN, October 6. “I appreciate and admire Dr. Mussadiq’s offer in nationalising the oil industry and vindicating Persia’s rights,” the Shah of Persia told the Senate today. “The Prime Minister, in fact, has already achieved it, with my support, as well as the support of both Houses of Parliament.” The Shah was addressing the opening of the third session of the Senate the day after the receipt of Britain’s latest Note on the oil dispute His declaration was designed to' counter reports of friction between the Shah and Dr. Mussadiq. According to political observers, the Shah is reported to be perturbed at rumours in Teheran which made him appear a “British stooge.” Informed sources in Teheran told the Associated Press that Dr. Mussadiq is likely to go slow in his threat to break off diplomatic relations with Britain after receiving the latest British and United States Notes.
