CAR STRIKES CULVERT
DRIVER KILLED; TWO PERSONS INJURED (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, October 7. William Smith, a married man. of 234 York place, Dunedin, was killed outright when the car he was driving crashed into a culvert at Hampden tonight. Two passengers suffered minor injuries. The accident occurred about 10.15 p.m. at the southern end of Hampden Borough. The car apparently ran off the road, struck. a culvert, and overturned. The passengers were Mif»s N. Currie, of 287 York place, Dunedin, and Mr F. C. R. Ford, of Fraser’s road, Roslyn. INJURIES TO HAND James Robson Clark, an employee of the Western Timber Company, Byron street, suffered injuries to the fingers of one hand when it was caught in a wood-working machine yesterday afternoon. He wa* admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital, where his condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory.
