The weather forecast for Canterbury 9 P- m - b y the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 27 hours following the time of issue, is:— Situation: a depression is moving on to the North Island from the north Tasman Sea. Forecast: moderate variable winds inland, north-easterlies near the coast; weather cloudy; moderate to cool temperatures. Outlook for Thursday: fair to cloudy. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Light variable winds; weather cloudy; moderate temperatures. Outlook for Thursday: fair. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The day in Christchurch yesterday was fine, with a light to moderate wind from the north-east. The maximum temperature waa 60.7 degrees. At midnight, the sky was cloudy and a moderate north-east wind was blowing. The temperature was 51.8 degrees. The barometer, at 29.953 inches (1014.3 millibars), was falling unsteadily.
