SIAMESE TEACHER TO STUDY IN N.Z.
PARTICULAR INTEREST IN KINDERGARTENS Mrs Poonsri Tamangraksat, a biamese school teacher, arrived in Wellington on Monday t o study teacher training methods in New Zealand. She ha s reedved a UNESCO fellowship. • At J u e Suansunantha Teacher Training School she teaches English to sect_and , Primary pupils. There are 400. boarders and day pupils. Education is compulsory, and there is a shortage of trained teachers. Of particular interest to Mrs Tamangraksat will be kindergartens, bile hopes to instruct student teachers in kindergarten methods on her return home. The Montessori system is used in both Government-sponsored and private kindergartens in Siam. Tm v tots, from the ages of 34 to five years can attend. Mrs Tamangraksat has two small daughters, aged five and two. Her nusband is an electrical engineer.
