AUSTRALIAN INVITATION TO N.Z. TEAM (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, Oct. 7. The executive committee of the New Zealand Bowling Association has authorised the acceptance of an invitation from the Australian Bowling Association for a representative party of New Zealand bowlers to visit Australia in May and June of next year. In response to requests from the New Zealand association, the Australian association has limited the tour to three States, Victoria, Queensland, and New South Wales, and the last portion of the tour will enable the New Zealand players to take part in the Australian national championships, which will be held at Sydney from May 18 to June 16. The party will be limited to 30 players and not more than 15 accompanying women. Travel will be by air from Christchurch to Melbourne, thence by road and bus by way of Canberra to Sydney and Newcastle, then to Brisbane. The partv will return to Sydney by air and fly to Auckland or Wellington. The cost of travel and accommodation for each member of the party is estimated at less than £2OO. Applications for inclusion in the party will close with the secretary of the New Zealand Bowling Association (Mr R. S. M. Sinclair, of Dunedin) on November 8. HAWARDEN LADIES’ CLUB The following officers were elected at the annual meeting of the Hawarden Ladies’ Bowling Club:— Patron, Mrs J. K. Forrester; president, Mrs G. E. Kay; vice-president. Mrs M. E. Grim wood; secretary, Mrs E. B. Stanbury; match committee, Mesdames Grimwood and O. Shaw; general committee, Mesdames J. Bishell, D. Lang, Brosnan, and Guthrie, and Miss Croft. Opening day was fixed for October 18.
