CELTS MARCH ON LONDON

Freedom Sought From “Tyrannous English” (Rec, 10 p.m.) LONDON, Opt. 6. Nationalists from Scotland, Wales, and Ireland marched tp the sound of pipes on Trafalgar Square yesterday demanding their freedom from the “tyrannous English,” but the English watched unperturbed as the parade, with banners bearing slogans, moved through the West End. The demonstration was organised by the recently-formed Celtic Alliance, which embraces nationalist and republican parties in the three countries. Miss Wendy Wood, a 60-year-old Scottish Nationalist, wearing a flowing green cloak and a tarn o’ shanter adorned with a silver thistle, dominated the 3000rstrong gathering. Miss Wood was arrested when she made her last appearance in London. She said the English would have to choose within the next few weeks whether to have Scotland as an enemy or friend. She described the history of the relations between the two countries as “nothing but insult and rapine.” The meeting ended with appeals for £5 notes. A Scot handed one over, but there were none from the Irish or Welsh. About £3O in notes was - collected, including one each from the United States and Australia.
