MR WEBB TO LEAVE AUCKLAND TODAY (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, Oct. 6. The Minister of External Affairs (Mr T. C. Webb) said in Auckland tonight that he was leaving for the, annual meeting of the United Nations General Assembly with “an open mind” on the issues likely to come up for discussion. Mr Webb, who will be making his first appearance in the General Assembly, will leave for America by air tomorrow. Mr Webb said he expected that a determined attempt would be made to have the South African racial question and the dispute between the Arabs and France over nationalistic aspirations in Tunisia and French Morocco put on the agenda. Asked what attitude New Zealand would take on these issues, the Minister said: “One will be guided by circumstances. I think it would be a great mistake to go with any preconceived ideas.” Travelling with Mr Webb will be Mr A. D. Mclntosh, Secretary of External Affairs, Mr T. C. Larkin, a member of the Department of External Affairs, and Mr A. E. Naylor, the Minister’s private secretary. Mrs Webb will accompany her husband. In New York the delegation will be joined by the New Zealand Ambassador in Washington (Mr L. K. Munro). Mr Webb expects to be away about six weeks. The meeting, which will open on October 14, will be the first held in the new United Nations General Assembly building.
