WOMEN’S TEMPERANCE UNION
DISTRICT CONVENTION North and South Canterbury District Convention of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union opened yesterday afternoon at the Church of Christ, Moorhouse avenue. Mrs Clarke, president of the North Canterbury District presided and welcomed the delegates and visitors. Greetings were given by the Mayoress (Mrs Macfarlane), by Miss Lovell-Smith, for the National Council of Women. Miss Pycroft on behalf of the Rechabites, the Rev. A W Grundy for the National Council of Churches, and Mr Bowers for the New Zealand Alliance. ( ? dr l e . ss jy as 2 iven by the Rev. W. T. Elight. The convention will conclude on Thursday.
