OLD COLLEGIANS CLUB A modification of the laws of cricket relating to declarations will be sought for two-day, half-day games under the control of the Canterbury Cricket Association in the coming season. The modification will be urged by Mr M. J. Moffat, a delegate from the Old Collegians’ Cricket Club, at the annual meeting of the Canterbury Association next week. At the annual meeting of the club last evening, Mr Moffat was instructed to move that either side batting in a two-day half-day match be permitted to declare its innings closed any time up to 5 p.m. on the first day. Law 15 of the laws of cricket states: “The captain of the batting side may declare an innings closed in a . . . two-day match at any time, but on the first day not later than 1 hour 40 minutes before the hour agreed on for drawing stumps." . . During discussion on this law, club members said that it was obviously framed with all-day matches in mind, and was not conducive to good cricket in half-day matches. Officers were elected as follows: Patron, Mr W. W. Dunkley; president,; Mr C. O. F. C. Hamilton; vice-presidents,! Messrs P. H. T. Alpers, R. C. Saunders, I and E. G. Pidgeon; club captain, Mr M.
