ROAD AND RAILWAY BLOCKAGES
THREE SLIPS CLEARED IN NAPIER AREA
(New Zealand' Press Association)
NAPIER, September 9. A slip to-day delayed traffic on the Napier-Taupo road for more than four hours. The slip was on the Napier side of the bridge across the Mohaka river.
Works Ministry roadmen had a path cleared through the deep pile of rock and earth by 2.30 p.m. The Hawke’s Bay Automobile Association reported a second slip in the Mohaka gorge, on the Napier-Wairoa road to-day. The slip was cleared soon after midday.
A slip on the Gisborne-Napier railway line disrupted passenger and freight services late yesterday and this morning. The line is now reported to be clear. The slip came down on the Waikokopu bank between Waikokopu and Nuhaka. Rail-car passengers from Gisborne to Napier were transported south of Waikokopu by Road Services buses.
