Fire Calls.— The Christchurch Fire Board’s brigades received 111 calls in August, compared with 82 in August. 1951. There were 29 fires (29 inAugust last year), 40 chimrtey fires (18), seven hedge, grass and rubbish fires (8). 19 automatic false alarms (17), seven justifiable false alarms (8). and nine malicious alarms (2).
