38 AFRICANS GO TO GAOL
(Rec. 8 p.m.) CAPE TOWN, September 9. Twenty-one Africans who admitted defying the curfew regulations were fined £3 or given the alternative of 30 days’ imprisonment with hard labour at Durban for being without passes. The fines were not paid. At KoSburg. near Johannesburg, 17 Africans, including eight women, chose a mdhtl\’s imprisonment instead of a fine of £2 when they were found guilty of being out after the curfew.
