DRAINAGE BOARD’S NEW BUILDING
TENANTS GIVEN NOTICE Tenants of the building on the west side of the Christchurch Drainage Board’s office in Hereford street, which was purchased recently by the board, have been given one month's notice. This was reported to the board at its meeting last evening by the finance committee.
The report said that the tenants had been notified that the premises had been valued, and that the bodrd, intended to increase the,rents. The increase for the top. floor would be from £2QO to £255 and on the ground floor from £221 to £475.
The engineer (Mr E. F. Scott) said the staff was completely un against it for accommodation. Four new engineers were joining the staff and he did not know where he would put them. • If they had only the bottom floor of the building, it would help.
