PRISONERS STILL AT LARGE
SEARCH IN BUSH NEAR ATIAMURI {New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAJJD. August 18. The three escaped prisoners being hunted in the bush near Atiamuri mav now have some food after going hungry since they escaped on Friday. A side of bacon was stolen rrom an unlocked butcher’s shop in Atiamuri early this morning. Detective-Ser-geant W. H. A. Sharp, of Rotorua, will go to Atiamuri to-morrow to investigate the theft. The police are watching all possible escape routes. They have visited farms and homesteads, warning settlers and seeking information. Farmers. State Forest Service workers, and mill hands are also helping in the search. The prisoners are George Augustus Baddiley, aged 22. Robert Bernaru Howe, aged 3L and Frederick Helmer Johnston, aged 26.
