FRUIT AND EGG PRICES
WOMEN’S INSTITUTES SEEK REDUCTION
(New Zealand Press Association) i WELLINGTON, July 30. The conference of the Federation of i New Zealand Country Women’s Institutes to-day passed a resolution saying that it viewed with, concern the high prices of fruit; vegetables, and eggs, which were essential to the diet of expectant mothers and children, and asking the Minister of Health (Mr J. R. Marshall), and the Minister of Social Welfare (Mrs G. H. Ross), to take urgent steps in the matter The conference is to ask the Minister of Immigration (Mr W. Sullivan) that more care be taken in selecting immigrants, with especial regard to their health and freedom from infectious diseases. The Dominion president (Mrs E. S. M. McNaughton, of Tauranga) was reelected unopposed. She was granted two months sick leave from her work for women’s institutes, and Miss Amy Kane was appointed acting Dominion chairman.
