RECORD FLIGHT TO AUSTRALIA
Canberra’s Fast Time From England
(Rec. 7 p.m.) DARWIN. May 11. A Canberra jet bomber whicn arrived at Darwin yesterday set a record of I9hr lOmin in flying time from England to Australia, clipping Ihr Bmln oft the previous Canberra record. It is the third Canberra to arrive here from England. The bomber flew from Singapore to Darwin in 4hr 28min, at heights of up to 46,5QQft. The pilot. Squadron Leader Peter Fisher, is from Western Australia. The Canberra jet bomber reached Melbourne this afternoon. It took 23 hours smin in flying time for the journey, thus clipping Ihr 15min off the previous record time. The actual time of the journey was 11 days.
