ANNUAL FESTIVAL OPENED The annual festival of the Christchurch Competitions Society was opened in Christchurch on Saturday evening by th* Mayor of Christchurch (Mr R. M. Macfarlane, M.P.). Mr K. W. Staples introduced the judges. The following were the results, cotnpeitors being of Christchurch unless otherwise stated:— English Song, soprano.—Miss Heather Smith, 91 points, 1; Miss Jean Barnard, 86. 2.
