AIR BATTLES
(Bee. 12.30 a m.) TOKYO, May 5. American Sabre jet fighters dejtroyed four Communist jets and two propeller-driven aircraft in aerial clashes over North-west Korea yesterday. Australian pilots claimed the probible destruction of another jet fighter. Allied bombers and fighter-bombers cor.tinued to hammer at Communist positions and communications yesterday, and last night they claimed to have destroyed more than 60 Communist supply vehicles. On the ground front yesterday action was limited to patrol skirmishes. The fiercest was a brisk encounter near Panmunjon on the western front where an Allied patrol fought a Communist group for four hours. _ , The Allied troops reported killing 47 Communists and wounding 21.
