OBITUARY
MR C. R. FELL (New Zealand Press Association) NELSON, May 6. Mr Charles Richmond Fell died suddenly this morning. A well-known barrister and solicitor, Mr Fell recently served on the Supreme Court
Bench as a temporary Judge for a year. For many years he was Crown Prosecutor at Nelson. Born at Nelson 70 years ago, he was educated at Nelson College and Canterbury University College, where he gained his LL.B, degree. He was a member of the Nelson City Council and Nelson Hospital Board for short terms, and was a member of the Nelson College Council of Governors for 30 years, for more than 20 years as chairman. MR A. E. LEGGETT Mr Albert Ernest Leggett, a former chief clerk in the District Engineer's Office of the Railways Department in Christchurch, died last week at the age of 66. Born in Ashburton and educated at the Ashburton High School, he entered the Civil Service at the age of 16 in 1902, and with the exception of service with the 27th Specialists’ Company in New Zealand and overseas during World War I, continued in the Civil Service in Greymouth, Ohakune, Wanganui. Wellington, Invercargill. and Christchurch until his retirement in 1942. During World War II he was employed by the Department of Agriculture in Christchurch. In his vounger days Mr Leggett was well known on the West Coast in many sporting circles, and he took a particularly active part in swimming, hockey, and Rugby. He was secretary of the Greymouth Competitions Society for manv years. More recently he was widely known in many parts of New Zealand as a keen bowler, and for the last eight years was a leading member of the Cashmere Bowling Club, of which he was a past president and former secretary.
