NAVY LEAGUE CAMP IN ENGLAND t SOUTH ISLAND OFFICERS ' SELECTED Two officer* from the South Island have been selected by the standing committee of the N«vy League to lead the Sea Cadet party which will represent New Zealand at the Navy League Empire camp to be held in England m July. They are Commander D p. J. Enright, M.V.Q., D.S.C. and bar, R.N. (retd“ and Lieu. (S ? ) J - GlanviUe, R.N.Z.N.V.R., officer commanding Cade? a^orps UrJ division of th ® SeB • Commander Enright, who now lives in Marlborough, is a former commandmg officer of the Canterbury division of the Sea Cadet Corns. During the last war he was in charge of the Royal Navy 'boys’ training establish--ment on the Isle ef Man. Lieutenant-. Commander Glenville, who has commanded the Canterbury division since 1950, has had the longest service qf any officer m the Sea Cadet Corps He was one of the original officers of the Canterbury division when it was established. Jn the last war he was engaged on the installation of harbour defences at Auckland, r km nquncpd the selection of the two officers yesterday,, said that cadets from fe n ’°’ r diwsmns of, the Sea Cadet Corps in Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury, and Otago., were now being selected for the visit to England. The Government had agreed to subsidise me . 00s t of the visit on the basis of £3 for every £5 raised by the Navy League, and also to provide certain uniform equipment free of charge. Mr Rawley said that every effort .was now being made by the Navy League to raise funds do meet the cost to anc| 18 cadets to England. The total cost would be nearly £5OOO. and the maximum as- ?‘| ta u c c from the Goyernment would .. If sufficient money was raised the number of cadets would be increased-to 24 as the New Zealand Navy League had been invited to send a party of that size. u Present arrangements are that the ers and cadets will leave New Zealand by the Ruahine on May 17. While in England they will be taken on tours to nlaces of interest Arrangements are also being made for all the cadets attending the camo tn be given a short course at the sLre training establishment, H.M.S.
